NEW BOSS: Dr Marie Perry will take up the position of Principal of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School including Ipswich Junior Grammar School from January 2023.

DR MARIE Perry has been appointed as the new Principal of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School including Ipswich Junior Grammar School.

Her appointment comes after a rigorous recruitment process, which attracted many exceptional candidates from around Australia.

She will take up the role from January 2023.

A highly regarded educator with more than 30 years of experience, Dr Perry is currently the Principal and CEO of Methodist Ladies’ College, Perth. She has been leading the development of an updated strategic plan and new 20-year masterplan for the MLC Perth.

Dr Perry has worked across all year levels from Kindergarten to Year 12, including the delivery of adult education.

This breadth of experience has equipped her with a keen understanding of the needs of students in each stage of their educational journey.

Dr Perry has worked in a number of quality independent schools of varying compositions, including early learning to Year 12, all-girl, all-boy, and co-educational institutions, and is experienced with boarding.

This makes her well placed to understand the needs of the IGGS school community, which includes a diverse group of students and their parents across all year levels.

She brings with her a strategic management and leadership focus, having successfully implemented large-scale strategic projects in consultation with a range of stakeholders and business partners.

A keen advocate for student outcomes, Dr Perry has an extensive background in curriculum transformation, and reform in teaching and learning approaches. In each of her previous roles, Dr Perry has demonstrated great leadership capability and capacity.

In announcing her appointment to the IGGS community, Board Chairman, James Sturges, said Dr Perry believed approachability and consistency would be integral to her future success in Ipswich.

“Modelling care, respect and courtesy to all members of the school community, she values excellence, from herself and those around her,” he said.

“An inspiring educational leader, Dr Perry has a proven ability to build on the momentum the school has enjoyed under the leadership of current Principal Dr Peter Britton.”
