WHILE the Ipswich Hornets got their season off and running several week ago local cricketers had to wait a little longer to dust off the cobwebs and get out onto the field.

Last weekend saw the completion of round one for both Division one and two with some strong early showings from the teams that are going to play a big hand in the final series.

Division one saw Centrals get early season revenge over premiers Laidley in a grand-final rematch with a thumping victory, while Mt Crosby Thunder showed they will be a force this year with victory over Brothers.

South East Redbacks pulled out a week before the first fixture was due to be played culminating in both Northsiders and the new team in the competition the Lockyer Valley Vikings both having Day One off.

Both teams did play last weekend in a one-day game with Northsiders getting the upper hand.

Division two also completed its first round with Centrals like their first division side accounting for Laidley in another grand-final rematch with Will Kraschnefski scoring a brilliant 126.

South East Redbacks showed they will be the team to beat with a crushing outright victory over Northsiders with Vaughan Oldham smashing 120 while Brothers accounted for Mt Crosby Thunder.

Division three got underway last week with a full round of one day fixtures for the 10 teams that will battle it out for glory.

Centrals had a comfortable win over Brothers, Laidley smashed the Thundersharks, Strollers Colts accounted for Northsiders, Strollers defeated Redbacks while Fassifern got their season up and running with a win over the Thunder Mustangs.
