BEAUTIFUL Child bounced back in style, Surrealist continued his red-hot run, Idea’s Girl made it two on the trot and Riorson Bale delivered a feature-race upset in a bumper Thursday night of greyhound racing at Q2 Parklands.
Returning to the happy hunting ground of the Purga circuit after a disappointing National Distance Final campaign, Beautiful Child wasted little time reminding punters of her class with another dominant display over the 710m.
Coming off a sixth-place finish in the Group One feature at Sandown on August 29, the talented stayer exploded from the boxes and quickly opened up a five-length advantage, taking control before her rivals had a chance to settle into the contest.
The win maintained Beautiful Child’s perfect record over the Parklands 710m at four wins from four starts and improved her career tally to 14 victories and three placings from just 24 outings as she closes in on $100,000 in prize money.
Surrealist was another star to keep his winning streak alive, making it three on the bounce as the $1.45 favourite just days after smashing the Parklands 550m track record.
Idea’s Girl ensured the winning streaks kept coming, making it back-to-back victories with another strong performance over the 600m for trainer Casey Dargusch.
The experienced campaigner has built an imposing record of 31 wins and 23 placings from 74 career starts, with her prize money now beyond the $150,000 mark.
But it was not all smooth sailing for the favourites, with Riorson Bale producing the upset of the night in the Publican’s Cup Final over 520m.
The Gregory Deering-trained chaser defied his $7.50 quote to take out the feature.
With dominant stayers, winning streaks and a feature-race upset, it was another Thursday night that had a little bit of everything at Q2 Parklands.
