QUEENSLAND has secured the return of the Land Forces International Land Defence Exposition to Brisbane in 2030, with the State also receiving first right of refusal to host the event again in 2032.
Land Forces is regarded as the Southern Hemisphere’s largest land defence industry exhibition, bringing together defence forces, governments, manufacturers, technology companies and industry leaders from Australia and across the Indo-Pacific.
The biennial event is expected to attract thousands of Australian and international delegates, with the Queensland Government hoping it will generate significant economic activity while opening new opportunities for local defence manufacturers and suppliers.
Land Forces will be hosted in Victoria in 2028 before making its return to Brisbane two years later.
The announcement comes as the State Government pushes to expand Queensland’s defence manufacturing footprint through Defence Q, a platform launched in August to provide companies with a coordinated pathway to invest and establish operations in the state.
Its focus includes advanced manufacturing, testing and evaluation, missiles, autonomous technology and uncrewed systems, while connecting businesses with government, supply chains, strategic partners and potential investment opportunities.
The Government says its $180.6 million Sovereign Industry Development Fund has so far helped unlock more than $193 million in investment across defence projects.
