WEALTH, independence and the growing influence of African women will take centre stage in Ipswich when one of Queensland’s major celebrations of African culture and female leadership returns for its fifth year.
The Queensland African Women Dinner Dance will bring women from across the state to the Dandiiri Room on Saturday, November 21, for a night combining serious conversations about financial freedom with African fashion, food, music and dancing.
Hosted by the Mama Rosemary Foundation, the 2026 event will carry the theme “The Sovereign Woman – She Builds Wealth”, challenging women to think beyond financial survival and towards building lasting economic security for themselves and future generations.
Ipswich Councillor Pye Augustine said the dinner dance had developed into an important platform for connection and empowerment.
“The Queensland African Women Dinner Dance is more than a social event, it is a celebration of resilience, leadership and the remarkable contribution African women make to our communities every day,” Cr Augustine said.
“This year’s theme, The Sovereign Woman – She Builds Wealth, highlights the importance of financial literacy and economic empowerment.
“When women have the knowledge and confidence to manage their finances and build wealth, families and entire communities benefit.”
Now marking its fifth year, the event is designed to create a space where women from different backgrounds can share experiences, build networks and learn from one another while celebrating African heritage.
Cr Augustine encouraged Ipswich women to be part of the celebration.
“I encourage women from across Ipswich to attend this wonderful event, bring their friends and enjoy an evening that celebrates sisterhood, culture, empowerment and personal growth,” she said.
The 5th Annual Queensland African Women Dinner Dance will be held from 6pm on Saturday, November 21, at the Dandiiri Room, 1 Nicholas St, Ipswich.
