ABOUT 2000 Australian and international delegates gathered in Brisbane last week for AgriFutures evokeAG., the Asia-Pacific region’s leading agrifood innovation event.
The conference showcased bold ideas, cutting-edge technologies, and disruptive science shaping the future of agriculture.
Agriculture remains a key industry in Ipswich, generating $27 million in output during the 2020/21 Census period, with meat processing accounting for 68.7 per cent of that figure.
The Queensland Government partnered with AgriFutures Australia to deliver the event, highlighting the
State’s strength in agricultural innovation.
The two-day conference featured 50 sideline events, tours, and discussions across Queensland, led by the state’s AgTech innovation community.
State Primary Industries Minister Tony Perrett emphasised the importance of embracing new technologies to drive industry growth.
“We won’t reach our ambitious target of a $30 billion industry by 2030 by operating the same way we always have,” Mr Perrett said.
“Innovation, technology, and disruptive science are key to our success.”
Queensland is positioning itself as a hub for agricultural innovation, with government support reflected in the $30 million Sowing the Seeds of Farming Innovation Fund.
This initiative aims to promote new technologies and modern farming practices.
Mr Perrett stressed that the insights, connections, and advancements from evokeAG. would give Queensland producers a global advantage.
By fostering local technology development and embracing cutting-edge innovations, the State is driving a more productive and profitable future for agriculture.
