FOR as long as Anna Skusiak can remember, as far back as primary school, she has always had a love for all things art.

Growing up in Milton Brisbane, Anna moved to Ipswich and has called it home since 2012.

With a background in fashion, Anna ran her own successful fashion/dress-making business for over 30 years.

The crossover between the fashion industry and art is a dynamic and ever-evolving relationship.

A self-taught visual artist, Anna has a particular love and passion for wildlife and nature, with her medium of choice being oils.

Influenced by the elderly and aged, whether it be person or place, if there is a story to tell then Anna has the ability to translate that to a visual representation.

Exploring visual interests through her travels, particularly through Vietnam and Thailand, Anna has experienced different cultures, gaining much respect and admiration for their lifestyle and artistic expression.

Anna recalls entering Mackay’s annual Caltex Art exhibition when she was just starting out, and the daunting process of putting ones self “out there” resulted in Anna being awarded the runner-up prize, which gave her the confidence to continue painting.

Since joining Arts Connect Ipswich Inc, Anna has found a group of like-minded people who share the same passion and enjoyment in creating. She is also an active member with 60 and Better art group in Ipswich.

If you’re interested in seeing some of Anna’s amazing work in person, she has displays and art for sale in the Booval Fair Arts Connect Community Gallery.

The gallery is open six days a week, Monday to Friday 9.30am to 2pm, and Saturday 9am to 1pm.
