WITH over a decade of experience in real estate, Ben O’Brien of STRUD Property has built a reputation as one of Ipswich’s most trusted and respected agents.
What sets him apart isn’t just his market knowledge or negotiation skills – it’s the human connection he brings.
“There are lots of sales and communication jobs out there,” Mr O’Brien said.
“But this is a real opportunity to help people during a complex time in their lives.”
For Mr O’Brien, the Ipswich community and the people is what makes his job so rewarding.
Over the years, he has been part of many meaningful transactions, but one story still stands out.
“There was a client named Gravel, a Vietnam War veteran who’d lived in the same home for 40 years,” he recalls.
“He had developed mobility issues and was struggling with stairs. I cold-called them, and over time, we built a relationship.
“I suggested they could sell and move into something more suitable. They thought their home was worth $400,000, but it was actually closer to $700,000.”
Mr O’Brien handled both the sale and the purchase of their new home – a cozy three-bedroom duplex – and helped make the transition as smooth as possible.
“There were hugs, there were tears. A year later I visited them, and seeing Gravel doing better – it really stuck with me. That’s what this job is about.”
At STRUD Property, Mr O’Brien and the team take pride in offering what he calls the “human difference”.
It’s a philosophy that’s working, and Mr O’Brien said the Ipswich property market was vibrant and evolving.
“There’s a real changing of the guard in some areas. Long-time residents are moving out, and young families are moving in. It’s exciting to be part of that growth.”
He sees consistent buyer interest in areas like Springfield and Camira, where features like pools, side access, and renovation potential are in high demand.
His top advice for buyers?
“We’re here to help – truly. Let us understand what you’re looking for. And take the time to understand the local area and the market. That local knowledge really matters.”
Away from work, Mr O’Brien enjoys spending time with his young family – five-year-old and 10-month-old children – and hitting the golf course when he can.
“We love the lagoon, the pink park behind Orion, and walking around Springfield Lakes. It’s such a great area to live in – and that’s exactly why I sell it.”
Ben O’Brien doesn’t just work in the Ipswich region – he lives it. Whether you’re buying or selling, he and the STRUD Property team are ready to help you take your next step with heart, insight and integrity.
