AFTER weeks spent tracking down flaky pastries, towering burgers, woodfired pizzas, irresistible desserts and legendary pub meals, Roamin Rowan’s Hunt for the Best of Ipswich turned its attention to the most important meal of the day – breakfast.
From perfectly poached eggs and loaded big breakfasts to stacks of pancakes, smashed avo, breakfast burgers and barista-made coffee, we set out to discover where locals believe Ipswich’s best breakfast is served.
Our call-out invited readers to nominate their favourite breakfast destination, with cafes, bakeries and hidden suburban gems from across the region all receiving plenty of love.
Every nomination helped shine a spotlight on the passionate local businesses serving up the meals that kick-start our mornings.
The response was overwhelming, with the Facebook post attracting more than 16,000 views within the first 24 hours as hundreds of breakfast lovers jumped online to back their favourite venue.
But there could only be one winner.
With nomination after nomination flooding in for Chai House Ripley, there was only one thing left to do – head out and see whether Ipswich’s most talked-about breakfast lived up to the hype.
BIG BREKKY A HIT
Leading the breakfast menu is the tummy filler Big Breakfast.
If you’re someone who loves a hearty yet fresh breakfast, this one should definitely be on your must-try list.
Roamin Rowan Rating: 8/10
I’m marking it an 8/10 simply because breakfast isn’t really my go-to meal of the day. But if it is for you, then Chai House Cafe is well worth a visit.
