BOOVAL Fair is inviting local creatives to help transform the centre through Connected!, a new mural art competition celebrating creativity, community and connection

Connected! offers Ipswich-based artists the opportunity to submit an original mural concept themed Connected to Community.

The competition is open to local artists aged 18-plus from all backgrounds and of all experience levels who live within the Ipswich region.

One mural has been completed with the input of the community through the partnership of Arts Connects Ipswich, which showcases Booval Fair mascot Buddy.

Centre Manager Karissa Pagham and Marketing Manager Rachel Vickary said the arts provided a great opportunity to get locals involved and continue to make Booval Fair shine as the Heart of The Community.

Six artists will be selected by an independent judging panel to bring their designs to life, painting large-scale murals within the undercover car park at Booval Fair.

All materials will be supplied, with support provided by Booval Fair and again in partnership with Arts Connect Ipswich.

Once completed, the six murals will become a permanent feature at Booval Fair, adding colour, vibrancy and storytelling to an everyday community space.

The finished artworks will then be assessed by a panel of experts, with one artist named winner and one named runner-up, each receiving prizes in recognition of their work.

Local artists are encouraged to submit their ideas and be part of a lasting creative legacy at Booval Fair.

Entries open on Monday, March 23 and close on Thursday, May 29.
