Brisbane Roar midfielder, Joe Caletti said his side wouldn’t be taking a backwards step when they go up against Newcastle Jets in Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Round 12 action at McDonald Jones Stadium on Tuesday night.

Roar look to make it two wins in as many week’s against the Jets following a 3-2 win over Rob Stanton’s side in Unite Round.

Ben Cahn’s side come into Tuesday’s match in eighth position on the A-League ladder, just a point outside the competition’s top six while the Jets sit four points further back in tenth.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s game Caletti, said his side were eager get another win over the Jets as they continue to build under new Head Coach, Ben Cahn.

“It’s good that we got the result against them last time, so hopefully we can learn from what we did well and learn from what we didn’t do well and hopefully get another result,” Caletti said.

“They’re obviously going to look for a reaction as well, but it’s up to us to be able to improve week in week out on what we’re trying to do because we’re still building on the way Ben (Cahn) wants to play, so hopefully we can keep improving on that and get another result.

“So far it’s been really good, it’s a lot to learn and I think the lads are picking it up so I think we can see in training and in games in patches where it’s coming off really well and it’s up to us as players to be able to build on that.”

Roar come into Tuesday’s match on their shortest turn around of the season after facing Macarthur on Thursday night.

Caletti said the fixture congestion throughout January was a challenge his side were relishing.

“As players that’s kind of what you want, less training and more games that’s what makes it enjoyable. We love to play games and instead of training we’re out there in front of the fans playing games,” Caletti said.

“With these quick turnarounds it’s important that we just leave the wins or the losses in the past and focus on the next game, so we don’t have a lot of time to dwell on either wins or losses.

“We’re just constantly looking at the next challenge and the next game and how we’re going to prepare so we’re just really focused on Newcastle.”
