IN a city built on community and rugby league, Brothers Leagues Club has evolved into far more than a place to grab a meal, growing into a gathering point where sport, dining and social life naturally collide.

That evolution has not gone unnoticed, with the club showcased at last month’s Clubs Queensland & McCain Foods Awards for Excellence 2026.

The club’s transformation earned it finalist recognition for Best Club Redevelopment (Small), while its broader impact across the game saw it named a finalist for Best Football Club.

Leading from the front, Chairman Greg Walsh was also recognised, taking out Club Director of the Year, a major honour that reflects his leadership, commitment and the time he continues to invest in shaping the club’s direction.

First elected to the board in 1995 and serving as Chairman since 2003, Mr Walsh’s long-standing stewardship has played a pivotal role in guiding the club through decades of growth and change.

On game days, the energy is immediate, as the club fills with conversation, anticipation and familiar faces, building into the kind of atmosphere only a true rugby league stronghold can deliver.

The Sports Bar sits at the centre of it all, a lively hub of big screens, TAB facilities, and social staples like pool, darts and live music that carry the buzz long after the final whistle.

The club’s redevelopment has reshaped the experience, opening the doors to a broader audience and, importantly, welcoming more families than ever before.

A purpose-built kids’ zone has created a space where younger visitors can play and explore, while parents enjoy the venue at their own pace.

At the same time, expanded dining areas have redefined the club’s layout, offering more room, more comfort and more choice.

The renovated restaurant now feels less like a traditional bistro and more like a genuine dining destination – warm, spacious and versatile enough to suit everything from quick lunches to long, relaxed dinners.

On the plate, the focus remains firmly on quality.

Queensland produce drives the menu, from premium Stanbroke Beef steaks to fresh Humpty Doo barramundi and generous seafood offerings.

Classic favourites still hold their ground with schnitzels, parmigianas and crowd-pleasing share plates alongside modern additions like Korean BBQ wings and loaded fries stacked high with smoky flavour.

Across the venue, multiple bar spaces add to the layered experience. The Restaurant Bar offers a relaxed setting for drinks with a meal, while the Café Bar moves effortlessly from daytime coffee spot to evening social hub with live entertainment.

What ties it all together is a clear sense of purpose. The redevelopment wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about creating a space that reflects the needs of a growing community.

Families, supporters, players and locals now share the same venue in different ways, all contributing to its atmosphere.

Deeply connected to Ipswich’s rugby league identity, the club remains a place where stories are shared, rivalries are born and community spirit thrives.

Located at 20 Wildey St, Raceview, Brothers Leagues Club offers convenient dining throughout the week, with lunch available Monday to Friday from 11.30am to 2pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, extending to 9pm on Fridays.

On weekends, the club shifts to all-day dining from 11.30am to 9pm on Saturdays, and until 8.30pm on Sundays.
