GIFT PACKS: The Lady Cilento Crafters has once again donated Christmas Gift packs to Ipswich Hospital’s Oncology department patients.

FOR the second year running, Lady Cilento Crafters have donated 100 Christmas gift packs to Ipswich Hospital’s Oncology ward for cancer patients.

Group organiser, Coralie Bradley, said they use donated goods and items they have sewed during their weekly group meeting and fundraising efforts to put the packs together.

“We raffle quilts and sell donated goods to raise money to create the Christmas gift packs,” she said.

“It’s fulfilling seeing the happiness the gift brings and it is something we plan to do for many, many years to come.”

Oncology Nurse Unit Manager Cherry Spross said the Christmas gift bags bring joy to patients going through a difficult time.

“Some of the patients are so overwhelmed by the generosity they break down in tears receiving the gift,” she says.

The Lady Cilento Crafters meet every Tuesday at Rosewood Men’s Shed at Tallegalla.

IHF APPEAL DONATION

Local sports association, Ipswich Parents and Old Boys (IPOB) has donated $3000 to the Ipswich Hospital Foundation’s (IHF) Children’s Christmas Appeal.

The Foundation is attempting to raise $150,000 to purchase cardiac monitors, a resuscitation cot, and humidifiers for Ipswich Hospital’s Special Care Nursery.

IPOB Secretary Brad Mc-Coombes said it was a great opportunity for his association to support IHF and its mission of delivering quality healthcare for the Ipswich and West Moreton region.

“We are always on the lookout for opportunities to give back to the community for worthy and beneficial causes, such as the IHF Children’s Christmas Appeal,” he said.

“This is our way of showing our appreciation of the ever-present need to help provide better health services and equipment needed by the valuable staff to carry out the life-saving treatment for our most vulnerable.”
