AS anticipation builds around Ed Sheeran potentially visiting Ipswich, 4BC Drive host Gary Hardgrave is leading a community-driven campaign to bring the superstar to town ahead of his Brisbane show on 19 February.
As part of the campaign, Hardgrave approached local café Rafter and Rose to create a special ‘Ginger-Ed’ biscuit in Ed’s honour. The collaboration aims to showcase Ipswich’s strong sense of community and support for local small businesses.
On 19 February, 4BC will host a major outside broadcast from the Ed Sheeran mural in Ipswich, turning the moment into a true people’s campaign. Rafter and Rose’s involvement adds a delicious local flavour to the push to get Ed to stop by.
Portia Risson, owner of Rafter and Rose, said she was thrilled to be involved.
“When I was asked to make a biscuit for Ed, I was honoured they would think of our café to join the campaign. I think it’s a brilliant way for Ipswich, the community and small business to come together, be recognised and achieve something great like this. Being part of it is really special.”
Portia’s take on the ‘Ginger-Ed’ biscuit is a brown butter, caramel and ginger cookie, finished with house-made caramel and salt flakes.
The hope is that Portia will personally present the ‘Ginger-Ed’ biscuit to Ed Sheeran during the live broadcast on 19 February—if he makes it to the mural.
