As much as I was impressed by a few things during last weekend’s NRL, I have to admit the Masters golfing drama was nothing short of sensational.
It’s in many ways a very unusual sport, because it provides an opportunity for all us weekend hackers to watch the world’s best on TV and then imagine how we would play each shot.
But, we can all dream can’t we!
I was surprised to read of the news regarding the Tigers’ brilliant young five eighth Lachlan Galvin, who will be leaving the club at the end of the 2026.
Obviously, there is a big breakdown between the club’s plans and those of the young player, or maybe his manager.
Such situations do seem easy to fix when looking in from the outside, but it will also be a big test for coach Benji Marshall. From what I have heard and read so far, Benji is showing an edge which I think is great.
I’ve no doubt he would want to provide his young number 6 with the best deal he can possibly get across the line.
However, he can only pay what the club can afford. This provides a perfect scenario for Galvin’s manager, who is obviously trying to take control of the situation.
The Tigers fans, and I’d imagine fans from other clubs, will be questioning the loyalty factor of this great young Tigers talent and who can blame them.
But loyalty, and player managers, are seldom mentioned in negotiations, and at face value, it certainly appears Lachlan Galvin’s time at the Tigers is limited.
I’ve heard that the player has no faith in Benji’s coaching system – I certainly would hope that is not the case.
