KIDS in Goodna will enjoy a boost to their playtime fun after an upgrade to one of the area’s prettiest parks.

RJ Richardson Park at Brisbane Terrace, Goodna, next to the Brisbane River, is having new park and playground equipment and walkways. There’ll be extra parking spots, including disabled parking.

Division 2 Councillor Paul Tully said the upgrade was a major investment in open and recreational space in Ipswich’s eastern suburbs.

“This park is being refitted with modern play equipment and will continue to be regularly used by local families and children.

“Brisbane Terrace was part of the main road from Ipswich to Brisbane until December 1955 with the park overlooking the river and the farms and open spaces at Moggill on the opposite side.”

Division 2 Councillor Nicole Jonic, herself mum to two young children, said the upgrade would bring many more people to the park.

“All of the play equipment except the highly popular flying fox is being replaced and Richardson Park will be the jewel in the crown of parks in the Goodna/Gailes area.

“Council workers are finishing the new pathways and gardens, with the new playground equipment to be installed in coming weeks.”
