IPSWICH and District Athletic Club has continued to showcase the stars it has in its talented stable over the past few weeks as the new competitive year rolls on.
One of the standout performances came from Toby Stolberg, who competed in the women’s high jump at the Potts Classic and Capital Classic in New Zealand.
At the Potts Classic in Wanganui, Stolberg claimed an impressive second place with a jump of 1.79m and followed it up with a third-place finish in Wellington at the Capital Classic with 1.77m.
These results are a remarkable achievement on the international stage, and Stolberg continues to make waves representing Australia.
Meanwhile, Jude Thomas is set to compete in the coming weeks across the US, with indoor races scheduled over distances of one mile and 5km before returning home to compete in the prestigious Sydney Track Classic on March 2.
Thomas will then take on the Maurie Plant Classic in Melbourne on March 29 – another significant milestone for our athletes on the global circuit.
In local competition news, the Kilcoy Gift held on Australia Day saw several of the club’s athletes excel.
Erin Wright made it to the finals of the 120m Ladies Gift, while Jace Foley impressed with his performances in the youth 120m and 70m events, reaching the finals in both.
Cooper Blake also earned a spot in the finals of the 70m Open Gift, while Blake and teammate Kobe Blake finished as finalists in the 300m Gift.
As the season continues, upcoming events for athletes include the Sally Pearson Shield (February 8), Cathy Freeman Shield (March 8), Queensland Athletics Championships (March 13-16), Stawell Gift Carnival (March 19 to April 21) and Australian Track & Field Championships, April 4-13, including Para & U20 combined events.
Meanwhile, the club’s AGM will be held in May, with all committee positions open for election.
