IN a significant move to support Ipswich residents grappling with cost-of-living pressures and the aftermath of natural disasters, the LNP has committed to federal funding for the construction of a food distribution hub in Ipswich.

The $325,000 commitment was revealed by LNP candidate for Blair in the upcoming Federal Election, Carl Mutzelburg, and is aimed at bolstering the efforts of Ipswich Assist, a local not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing relief to those in need.

“From my discussions with Blair residents, it is clear that Labor’s cost-of-living crisis is out of control, which is why we need a charitable food distribution hub here in Ipswich,” Mr Mutzelburg said.

He highlighted his dedication to supporting the community, noting that the new hub would not only serve residents in times of need but also alleviate the strain on other charitable organisations.

Senator Paul Scarr praised Mr Mutzelburg’s longstanding commitment to helping those in need, citing his experience in founding and running a charity that provided food parcels, flood relief, and financial literacy programs.

“With more than three out of four households in the Ipswich and Somerset region under financial stress, Carl is the right candidate for Blair in these difficult times,” Senator Scarr said.

Ipswich Assist Manager Jason Budden expressed his gratitude for the funding commitment.

He added that the proposed upgrades would enable Ipswich Assist to have adequate onsite storage and become a food distribution hub, benefiting many charitable works in the area.

This initiative is part of the LNP’s broader plan to strengthen local communities and help Australia recover from economic challenges.
