THE IPSWICH Hornets moved to seventh on the Bulls Masters Two Day Cricket Summer Competition after beating Northern Suburbs by 80 runs at Ivor Marsden Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon.

At stumps on Saturday, Hornets were all out for 276 with Northern Suburbs 1/56 to end the day.

Ipswich captain Harrison Wood smashed 93 runs off 91 balls, his haul including 10 fours and three sixes in a significant individual effort.

Next best in run-scoring was Matt Andrews (39 off 81 balls) and Jared Adamski (32 off 72 balls).

Jem Ryan (9 balls) and Harry Sheppard (14 balls) both were out for a duck.

The opening partnership of Bryn Llewellyn and Noah Emmerson finished with a combined 32 runs off 69 balls.

Northern Suburbs opened batting with Flynn Thomasson and Connor Carroll, with Thomasson caught off a Harrison Wood ball, a single run scored off eight balls.

At stumps on the first day, Carroll had scored 32 runs off 55 balls and Alexander Procopis was on 19 runs.

On day two, it didn’t take long for another wicket to fall when Connor Carroll was caught by Matt Andrews off a ball bowled by Ipswich captain Wood.

The wickets fell rather quickly, with the best run-scoring for Northern Suburbs coming from Procopis with 52 runs from 127 balls and Blake Maher with 44 runs from 83 balls.

Ryan Walker and Theo Tsingos had golden ducks at the bottom of the batting order for Northern Suburbs.

Wood took two wickets from 10 overs while Noah Emmerson put on a masterclass with ball in hand, taking four wickets from 22.3 overs.

Wicket-keeper Matt Andrews took five catches and a stumping performing well in his position behind the stumps.

With six weeks remaining of the regular season before playoffs, the Hornets sit seventh as they head into this weekend’s match against a Wynnum-Manly who moved into ninth on the ladder with a win of 9/281 declared last round.

Fall of wickets (Ipswich) 1-9 Noah Emmerson, 2-60 Ethan Ramsbotham, 3-79 Bryn Llewellyn, 4-120 Paul Nasser, 5-125 Jem Ryan, 6-134 Harry Sheppard, 7-199 Harrison Wood, 8-238 Matt Andrews, 9-257 Jared Adamski, 10-276 Sean Lutter
