THE Ipswich Jets Queensland Cup side has secured experienced hooker Tyran Ott for the 2026 campaign, bolstering its dummy-half stocks ahead of the new season.
Ott arrives in Ipswich after parting ways with English club Bradford Bulls at the end of the 2025 season. The Australian returned home during the off-season and has now locked in a fresh opportunity with the Jets as they shape their squad for a climb up the Queensland Cup ladder.
The 25-year-old brings strong second-tier credentials, having made 34 appearances in the New South Wales Cup before heading overseas in 2024.
During nearly two seasons at Odsal, Ott featured 33 times for the Bulls, enjoying his most consistent run in his first year under coach Eamon O’Carroll. Opportunities became more limited in 2025 under Brian Noble, with Jordan Lilley and Mitch Souter preferred.
Despite being restricted to eight senior appearances last season, Ott remained match-ready through loan stints with the Dewsbury Rams and Batley Bulldogs, gaining valuable minutes and experience in the English system.
Ipswich will be hoping Ott’s arrival provides added depth, direction and reliability around the ruck as they look to build on a 2025 campaign that saw them scrape into eighth position before their finals run ended against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls.
Head coach Tye Ingebrigtsen said pre-season preparations were tracking well, with the squad being tested early.
“Pre-season has been going good,” Ingebrigtsen said. “Tyran Ott has been signed to cover depth in the No.9 position after Ollie Pascoe was upgraded to the Titans.
“We have our first trial game on February 7 at Sunshine Coast Stadium against the Falcons.”
With experienced reinforcements arriving and pre-season intensifying, the Jets will be aiming to turn last year’s narrow finals qualification into a stronger and more consistent push in the 2026 Host Plus Cup season.
