WITH six rounds remaining in the regular season in Division 3 South, the Ipswich Musketeers are in the prime spot to make a tilt for the playoffs.
Their game against the Southern Stars was rained out last weekend, and they now prepare to head to Runcorn this Sunday to play the Indians Apache.
Ipswich now have eight wins and two losses from ten matches played and sit second on the ladder with an 80% win rate.
Their next opponent sit anchored to the bottom of the ladder with one win, two draws and eight losses from 11 played.
But games like this weekend’s are danger games, especially at the pointy end of the season, so the Musketeers will have to be at their best.
Baseball is seeing a resurgence of popularity and the Musketeers, as one of Queensland’s oldest baseball clubs, are looking to boost their numbers into the new year.
Established in 1954, Ipswich Musketeers has a proud history of representative players, while also maintaining a reputation as a family-oriented club that promotes the opportunity for everyone to enjoy the sport of baseball.
Originally based at Spring St, East Ipswich, in 1989 the club moved to the Tivoli Sporting Complex – now one of the best baseball facilities in South East Queensland.
The club fields teams for the summer GBL (Greater Brisbane League) competition, running from October through to March.
The game against the Indians Apache will begin at 8.30am on Sunday.
