It’s exciting to see Ipswich Basketball win its first open state title in their 60 year history. Hard work and dedication by the lads and the coaching staff guided them to success.

With basketball continuing to thrive in our city it’s time we had a multipurpose indoor facility to keep up with the growth of our population and sports in Ipswich.

Currently the local competition has outgrown its facility and has to be played over five venues.

Mia excels at World Games

Mia Kertesz, our champion from Ipswich Athletics and Western Aquatics has enjoyed her time in Germany at the World Dwarf Games.

The West Moreton Anglican College student will come home with two gold medals and two silver medals and memories that will last a lifetime.

Suns take title

Congratulations to the Ipswich Suns over 40 women’s netball team who won their 5th consecutive Qld Indoor Netball Division 2 title.

I love how sports build community and friendships and it’s good to see that our city has such a proud culture and camaraderie amongst so many different sports.

Table Tennis celebration

Ipswich Table Tennis celebrated their 90th birthday on the weekend with 100 past and present players enjoying a great evening reminiscing about the history of the club.

Over the years the club has had various venues, and currently they play out of the Deebing Heights State School.

Trains keep on rolling

The team of volunteers at Grandchester Model Live Steam Trains celebrated 25 years of operation on the weekend.

Pete, Geoff, Cath, Jake and their team have built on the history of Rail in Grandchester, with a model train track that’s offered an experience for thousands of excited kids over the last 25 years.

The track is operational on the first Sunday of the month and should be on your bucket list for young kids, and the young at heart.

Have a great week.
