IPSWICH’S TASC Legal and Social Justice Service will share in more than $1.5 million of funding under the Federal Government’s new National Access to Justice Partnership.

The funding was allocated to TASC National, which also has offices in Toowoomba, Roma, Goondiwindi and Gympie for 2025-26, as a part of the $3.9-billion National Access to Justice Partnership.

Under the NAJP, Queensland will receive $158.5 million in 2025-26, and this Federal funding is likely to be supplemented by State Government funding.

The NAJP began on July 1 and replaced the National Legal Assistance Partnership 2020-25 under the former Coalition Government, delivering an increase of $800 million over five years from 2025-26 to the legal assistance sector.

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said this was the largest ever Commonwealth investment in Community Legal Centre, and TASC National’s funding had increased by $276,403 with the commencement of NAJP in 2025-26, compared to 2024-25 funding under the NLAP.

Mr Neumann said the funding boost would strengthen vital legal assistance and support services provided by TASC, and help to deliver better outcomes for those who need it most.“

As a former lawyer who represented many vulnerable clients, often on a pro bono basis, I know how important access to justice is to ensure people are treated fairly in the legal system, and given a voice and proper representation,” he said.

“The $1.5 million funding from the Albanese Labor Government, an increase of more than $276,000, will ensure that TASC’s essential frontline services can continue to operate and support the most disadvantaged in our community.”

Mr Neumann said this would help women and children escaping family and domestic violence.
