JOHN Turner has been recognised for an incredible 60 years of service as a Justice of the Peace, marking a lifetime of dedication to the Ipswich community.
State Member for Ipswich West Wendy Bourne presented Mr Turner with a Long Service Award at his home, acknowledging his exceptional contributions over the decades.
“John Turner’s long stint as a Justice of the Peace is a testament to his commitment to his service to the community,” Ms Bourne said.
“I was delighted to have the honour of presenting John with this award, recognising his outstanding dedication.”
Beyond his role as a JP, Mr Turner has played a significant role in local governance and community development.
From 1991 to 1995, he served as a councillor for Moreton Shire Council, working to improve the wellbeing of residents in the region.
Alongside his wife, Chrissie, Mr Turner has had a profound influence on the Rosewood community and beyond.
The couple’s tireless efforts earned them a place on the Town and Country Volunteers Honour Board in Rosewood, testament to their lifelong commitment to helping others.
Mr Turner is a Life Member of the Rosewood Apex Club, the Ambulance Committee, and the Cabanda Board.
He has also served on the board of the Anzac Park Sport and Recreation Club for many years, working alongside Chrissie to support local initiatives. Their volunteer efforts have spanned numerous organisations, including the Queensland Cancer Council’s door knock appeals, the Rosewood Bowls Club, and St Brigid’s Parish and School.
Ms Bourne praised Mr Turner’s contributions, highlighting the lasting impact of his service.
“John’s service to the community and his long-standing commitment as a Justice of the Peace is an inspiration,” she said.
“His contributions, alongside Chrissie’s, have left a lasting mark within the Ipswich West community. We are fortunate to have such dedicated individuals.”
