THE Laidley Spring Festival has delivered another bumper weekend, drawing an estimated 22,000-plus visitors across three days of entertainment, markets, food and community celebrations.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Tanya Milligan said record crowds had again embraced the festival.
After recent bushfires and a heatwave affected the region, Cr Milligan said cooler conditions provided an ideal backdrop for the festival’s makers, creators, producers, artists, musicians and food vendors.
Saturday’s traditional Street Parade was another major drawcard, with spectators lining Patrick St to watch more than 30 entries, including floats, vintage cars and tractors, community groups, roving entertainers and marching bands.
Laidley District State School was named Grand Champion after also taking out the Best Children’s category.
The festival’s Show ‘n’ Shine attracted more than 180 vehicles on Saturday morning, while celebrations continued into Sunday with Bee Happy Day at Forest Hill.
More than 2000 people attended Bee Happy Day.
Other Street Parade winners included Move and Groove Dance School for Best Sporting Group, Laidley Community Centre for Best Community Group/Cultural entry, 2nd Light Horse Lockyer Troop for Historic/Antique Motor Vehicle Group and RDO Equipment for Best Business Float.
