DETECTIVES from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged a 31-year-old woman in relation to the death of a four-year-old girl at Lowood on Monday night.
Emergency services were called to a Lowood property about 11.10pm where a child was located unresponsive and declared deceased at the scene.
Two other children at the property at the time were not injured.
All three children are known to the woman.
The charged woman, who has been identified as the deceased child’s mother, faces one count of murder domestic violence against a child.
She was due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Detective Inspector Michael Manago addressed media on Tuesday in relation to the ongoing homicide investigation.
“This is an incredibly tragic situation which is made even more tragic with the presence of the other children in the dwelling at the time,” Det Insp Manago said.
“A post mortem investigation will be conducted in the near future to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.”
Police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Meanwhile, investigations continue.
