Congratulations on your seventh win in the seat of Blair, a significant achievement given the ups and downs of Labor fortunes since you were first elected in 2007.

You made a lot of promises during the campaign, so you’ve given yourself quite the shopping list.

There’s not room here to detail them all, so I’ll highlight a few.

The Amberley interchange on the Cunningham Highway needs to be more than an interchange. Nothing short of a full bypass from Middle Rd to Coopers Rd will be acceptable.

Then there’s a new home for rugby league and sport in Ripley, a new indoor court for Ipswich Basketball, the badly needed second Bremer River crossing better known as the Norman Street bridge and fixing the Mount Crosby Rd mess on the Warrego Highway.

To your credit you championed Medicare Urgent Care clinics, and I believe these have been a success in relieving pressure on other local emergency services.

I know your “to do” list is long, but I need to add to it. The Warrego Highway is increasingly dangerous with more traffic at crossroads with no overpasses.

Granted, you did get Blacksoil fixed, but now Haigslea Amberley Rd where it meets the highway is urgent too. A permanent fix nearby would be to resurrect the long- forgotten Western Ipswich Bypass proposal.

Drivers are pinning a lot of hopes on you Shayne.

Last Sunday you said you wouldn’t let us down.
