AFTER many years, all tenants of the Ipswich Old Courthouse are uniting for a special event.
The combined event will be held from Friday, October 16 through to Sunday, October 25 from 9am to 2pm daily, and will incorporate the annual exhibition from members of the Ipswich Art Society, alongside the Ipswich Photographic Society.
Displays will feature in the front courtroom, with support at the official opening coming from the Ipswich Minor Chords and the Ipswich Musical Theatre along with an open-door display by the Ipswich Mini Crafters.
This is the first time that all tenants of the historic landmark on the corner of Roderick and East Streets have joined together in an event to share with the community.
So, who are these Old Courthouse tenants?
The Ipswich Art Society Inc was established to encourage, inspire and promote art practices of artists on their journey from beginner level to accomplished artists.
The Ipswich Photographic Society is the oldest continuously operating photographic club in Queensland, formed in 1890. It is a group of mostly amateurs who like to share their passion for photography with workshops, presentations and social competitions.
The Ipswich Minor Chords enjoy an evening of singing practice every Wednesday from 7-9pm at the Old Courthouse. They are a mixed acappella chorus keen to share their beautiful style of music.
Ipswich Mini Crafters have the philosophy, “If we can find it, we can use it” and have been crafting big dreams in every scale since 1990. From their beginnings as Karalee Mini Crafters, then Ipswich Mini Crafters, are proud to now be the Ipswich Miniature Craft Shed.
Ipswich Musical Theatre Company was founded in 2001, and have since staged shows, dinner theatre and major musical productions, performing in both the historic Old Courthouse and the Ipswich Civic Centre.
