Ripley Valley State Secondary College is set to mark its five-year anniversary after being opened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The school, located between Springfield and Ipswich Central, opened with 134 students in 2020 and the student population has grown to see an enrolment of 1050, with a full capacity of 2000.
This year, the school will mark great milestones with the first ever Year 12 cohort graduating, as well as showcasing a range of unique, specialist academies including Football Excellence, IGNITE (Academic Excellence), Dance, and eSports, plus a brand new Health Hub with a simulated hospital ward to help train senior students for work in the nursing field.
Next week, the new Performing Arts building will be opened, chiming in with so many more opportuinties for students.
In the five-year history of the school, notable achievements by students inside and outside of the classroom include:
- Quantum Tech Camp 2024 – one Year 11 student has been selected among the Queensland state schools representatives in the international event.
- West Moreton Health Traineeships – with the official opening of the school’s brand new Health Hub (simulated hospital ward) this year, students in this program were recently successful in getting five out of the 14 school-based traineeships available with West Moreton Health.
- One Year 12 student just completed a Childcare Traineeship, becoming the first student to complete a traineeship this year, and is one of nearly 110 students completing external training, work placements and programs this year.
