Australian football fans will be able to watch every match of the 2030 FIFA World Cup live and free after SBS secured exclusive Australian broadcast rights to the tournament.
The broadcaster confirmed the deal as part of its 2027 upfronts, extending a relationship with FIFA that dates back to the 1986 World Cup.
All 104 matches of the 2030 tournament will be broadcast live and free across SBS, SBS2, SBS On Demand and SBS Audio.
The deal follows SBS’s coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which reached more than 18 million Australians and generated more than 209 million hours of viewing.
SBS Managing Director Jane Palfreyman said retaining the tournament reinforced the broadcaster’s long-standing connection with football in Australia.
“SBS is without question the home of ‘the World Game’ in Australia,” she said.
