OUR CHARITY groups are doing a wonderful job looking after Ipswich residents who need assistance.

Volunteer members of the groups donate their time and effort into making sure help projects are successful.

But getting dedicated members to embrace the charity goals is just one part of making the organisations successful.

They also need to find innovative ways to raise awareness and find funding to keep progressing their cause.

In 2019 Lisa’s Lunches was formed with a goal to support families in a practical way while they were on a cancer journey.

In the short time since, they have provided more than 28,000 lunch packs to support families, handed out thousands in gift and fuel cards and supplied hundreds of family meals.

The charity was formed in memory of local woman Lisa Heuston who died of cervical cancer.

Lisa loved to write messages of love and encouragement on cards which she would send to those closest to her.

Now Lisa’s Lunches have decided to use this inspiration and will further recognise her by producing “Lisa’s Letters of Love”.

The idea is to design a gift pack of five of these letters featuring selected artwork from the local community.

“We hope to encourage people to send their own messages of love and hope to their friends and relatives, not because they are dying, but because they want to say how much they care,” Lisa’s Lunches founder and President Jacqui Martin said.

“We are now asking the community to submit their artwork so we can have a public vote to choose who will be featured on one of the five cards.

“We will also have the Lisa’s Letters of Love pack of cards available for purchase and hopefully we will make a small profit which will be put back into our mission’s work.”

The packs will be handed out free to those in palliative care at Ipswich Hospital and Ipswich Hospice.
