Willowbank Raceway, Queensland’s premier drag racing destination, has officially reopened its doors following an extensive eight-month closure for venue upgrades.

Last Friday night marked the grand reopening of local events, celebrated with a highly anticipated Test ‘n’ Tune event. The atmosphere was electric as over 100 eager entrants hit the newly laid concrete track, their smiles and cheers echoing throughout the venue.

The reopening of Willowbank Raceway comes after a series of significant upgrades aimed at enhancing both the performance and safety of the track. The most notable improvement is the freshly laid concrete track, designed to provide better traction and a smoother racing experience.

This investment in infrastructure ensures that Willowbank Raceway continues to uphold its reputation as a top-tier facility for drag racing enthusiasts Australia wide and in some instances one of the flattest drag racing surfaces in the world.

The Test ‘n’ Tune event was a fitting celebration for the reopening, drawing a large crowd of racers and spectators alike. Participants had the opportunity to test their vehicles on the improved track, fine-tuning their setups and experiencing the enhanced conditions first-hand.

The night saw a diverse array of vehicles, from high-powered dragsters to finely tuned street cars, all pushing their limits and showcasing impressive performances. Racers expressed their delight with the upgrades, noting the noticeable improvements in track quality.

The event ran smoothly, with participants praising the organization and the opportunity to get back on the track after the long hiatus.

With the reopening, Willowbank Raceway is set to host a series of thrilling events in the coming months.

Drag racing fans can look forward to a packed calendar featuring a variety of competitions and gatherings, from local meets to national championships, the upgraded track promises to deliver an exhilarating experience for both racers and spectators.
