Once again our city came alive on Saturday night as classic cars and hot rods came to town to do some laps, and hang out with mates as they did in days gone by.

It was good to see our local cafes and restaurants doing a roaring trade, with many outdoor table bookings.

I’m looking forward to the next planned night, which is rumoured to be Thursday, 21 December and expected to feature a Christmas theme.

While it’s good to see our town alive and bustling, it’s disappointing to hear that after the event there were reports of hooning. I’d like to say I do not condone such behaviour and it’s certainly not condoned by any of the old school lapping boys, who just want to see people coming together and enjoying a social night.

I love seeing families coming along and enjoying the cars and look forward to bringing our grand kids to the next event.

If you are a car enthusiast, come along and enjoy the hundreds of classic cars on show.

Jacaranda Festival

Goodna Jacaranda Festival was back on the weekend, and whilst there was some angst about it no longer being a free event, most people I spoke to had a great time at the event.

It was good to see our local schools performing on the stage.

I love school kids taking pride in their school. Pride in a school leads to pride in community, and when you are proud of your community, you become a productive member and want to give back to community, which benefits our whole city.

Day for Daniel

Daniel Morecombe was abducted and killed 20 years ago, and the last Friday of October a March for “Day for Daniel” happens across the country, to pay tribute to his legacy. It’s always a sobering experience to walk around the CBD honouring a life taken too soon.

AIRBORNE: Camira’s Jimmy Jones takes flight.

Jimmy wins

Jimmy Jones from Camira has become our city’s latest world champion, winning the World International Scooter Championship. Congratulations Jimmy, and at just 10 years of age, he has a big future ahead of him in the sport.

Season of Colour

As the last of the purple jacaranda blooms are falling to the ground I trust you have taken time to appreciate the beautiful colour across our city.
