By the banks of the Bremer River where the stately gum trees grow where paddocks stretch before you and birds fly to and fro, sheep and cattle roamed here once amid the peace and quiet and potato crops were planted just above the water’s height.

Up the river coal was mined and boats came to the wharf, discharging goods and loading coal, to take back to the port.

Ships and barges came to Ipswich in those early days, bringing farmers and settlers and those who plied their trade.

’Twas supposed to be the capital, for some were in the know but all this did not come to pass, cause Brisbane stole the show.

Now on those river banks I live, with others close beside me the village is our home, the last, as far as I can see.

To keep our minds alert, our bodies strong and true there’s a little bit of everything for all of us to do.
There’s gardening and tai-chi and golf and bowls to play, while crafty things are catered for, if you want to fill your day,

There’s cards and dinners, fairs, a choir, darts and billiards too even croquet is catered for and a tennis court for you.

A nice big swimming pool, for those who feel the heat but the gym is best of all you see, it’s very hard to beat.

Our place comes alive at Christmas time, with festive lights galore the grandkids come from everywhere, they want to see lots more.

The hall is brightly decorated, by “elves” on Christmas eve, so Santa Claus can find us and all our presents leave.

It’s pretty quiet on holidays, a soul you ne’er can find, some people are not walking now, but they don’t seem to mind, cause all their mates have gone away, on holidays you see for friendship is a valued thing, a must for you and me.

So now we live a quiet old life, us oldies, once a force, we steered our kids along the paths, we thought the proper course.

This is the story of Bremer Waters, open as a page, It’s had it’s ups and downs, It’s very hard to gauge.

Time will tell how this plays out, what lies ahead for all, rest assured your friends are here, we hope you have a ball.

For those of you who’ve just arrived, don’t think you’re on your own, if you have troubles, ask someone, or ring us on the phone.

It can be tough for people here, there’s lots of pressing needs, but many of our residents are known for their deeds.

So as the year starts, two’ twenty four, we wish you all the best we hope that all goes well with you, and for all the rest.

(This is a story of Bremer Waters Village at Moores Pocket. There are many villages in Ipswich that are similar to ours and have the same recreational features).

We wish our fellow villages a very happy 23/24 festive season.
