FRESH from its sold-out season of Kinky Boots, Switch Up Productions Inc. is delighted to present Home, I’m Darling, the Olivier Award-winning comedy by acclaimed playwright Laura Wade, for a limited season at the Cambrian Centre, Booval this July.

Set in a picture-perfect world of vintage dresses, polished chrome appliances and home-cooked dinners, Home, I’m Darling follows Judy, a modern woman determined to live as a 1950s housewife in the 21st century.

Alongside her husband Johnny, Judy has created the perfect retro lifestyle. But as financial pressures, modern expectations and the realities of everyday life begin to intrude, maintaining the fantasy becomes increasingly difficult.

Packed with sharp wit, laugh-out-loud moments and surprising emotional depth, Home, I’m Darling explores our fascination with the past while asking whether the pursuit of perfection is ever truly attainable.

The production is directed by Martie Blanchett, a respected figure in the Ipswich theatre community.

Martie recently directed the highly successful production of The Secret Bridesmaids’ Business for Ipswich Little Theatre and is well known for her acclaimed performance as Maggie in Mother & Son with Ipswich Musical Theatre Company.

“At first glance, Home, I’m Darling is a wonderfully funny comedy,” Blanchett said.

“Audiences will laugh, recognise themselves in the characters and perhaps leave with a few questions of their own.”

The show features a talented local cast, an experienced creative team and a script that has delighted audiences around the world.

Home, I’m Darling is for a limited season of only five performances.
