SINCE 2006, the Marburg Black Snake Creek Festival has been a celebration for all ages to enjoy.
Presented by the Marburg and District Residents Association, the festival is a family-friendly event brought to you by the local Marburg community.
This year, the festival’s main day will be Saturday, September 19, with plenty of activity planned including free children’s entertainment, rides, eats, market stalls, car show and more, including the ever-popular Art Competition and Exhibition.
The festival continues to see the arts community grow, and this year will see the Green Shed come to life with the exhibition open to the public from September 13-19, and entries are now open for the Art Competition, closing on Sunday, September 6.
Works must be delivered to the Green Shed in Queen St, Marburg between 9am and 1pm on the 6th (no late entries accepted after 1pm)
With it still only $10 per entry, artists are invited to enter up to four pieces across 12 categories.
As part of the Art Show, there will be feature categories for both open and primary and high school students to paint a swagman as well as decorating a billy.
This year sees Arts Connect Ipswich Inc take the reins with the running of the Art Show, with the ongoing support and guidance from the Marburg and District Residents Association.
This year will see some new categories as well as the return of some old ones, including Photography. Members of the Arts Connect Ipswich group will be volunteering during the show.
Prior to the Art Show being open to the public on September 13, there will be an awards afternoon on Saturday, 12 from 3pm, where the prize winners will be announced for each category.
This is a catered afternoon and costs $15 per person and bookings are essential on 0419 622 005
There will also be a People’s Choice for the Art Show, where you can vote for your favourite during the week, with the winner being announced at 2.55pm on Festival Day, September 19.
