BEAUTIFUL Child continued her stunning winning streak with a dominant performance in the Queensland National Distance Final at Q2 Parklands on Thursday night.
Sent out as the $2.25 favourite in the $24,000 feature over 710m, Beautiful Child made it seven wins on the bounce with another commanding display.
The My Redeemer x Rumbling Away bitch entered the final unbeaten over the distance after cruising to victory by almost five lengths in her heat last week.
With the red runner setting the early pace, Beautiful Child remained within striking distance before making her move as the field approached the business end of the race.
The pink runner began gaining ground into the final turn, but Beautiful Child had plenty in reserve and kicked clear in the straight to defeat Soiree, with Surrealist filling third place.
The victory continued an outstanding run of form and took Beautiful Child’s career record to 13 wins and three placings from 22 starts, with her prize money now beyond $85,000.
There was also plenty on the line in the Queensland Sprint Championship Final over 520m, where Zipping Lee turned the tables on hot favourite Winsome Jet to book her place in the National Final in Melbourne.
Winsome Jet started as the $1.60 favourite but missed the jump and found trouble out wide, opening the door for Zipping Lee.
The Jedda Cutlack-trained chaser exploded from the boxes and took control at the front, opening a two-length advantage before holding her rivals at bay into the straight to score at $4.20.
It was a strong turnaround from Zipping Lee after the Good Odds Harada x Zipping Tayla bitch finished third in her heat the previous week.
The victory improved Zipping Lee’s impressive career record to 19 wins and 10 placings from 43 starts, with more than $140,000 in prize money.
More importantly, the Queensland Sprint Championship title secured her ticket to Melbourne, where she will represent the State on the national stage.
