WEEK seven of our mission to uncover the absolute best Ipswich has to offer saw the campaign trading pizza crusts for golden flaky pastry, cream-filled delights and enough sugar to keep Roamin Rowan bouncing off the walls for days.
In just 24 hours, this week’s battle of the bakeries and sweet treat kings reached more than 13,000 views, with locals passionately defending their favourite pie warmers, dessert cabinets and bakery counters from every corner of the region.
When the crumbs settled and the votes were counted, the pie crown officially went to Collingwood Park Patisserie, while Baked took home the sweet treats title after a flood of support from dessert-loving locals.
But the competition was tighter than the lid on a fresh steak and bacon pie, with shout-outs rolling in for bakeries all across Ipswich and beyond.
Other local legends earning votes included Richards Bakery North Ipswich, Shan’s Creative Bakes, Syd’s Pies, Lily’s Bakery Springfield, Macca’s Bakery Camira, Bun Me Bakery on Grange Road, Karalee Bakehouse, Hunter Street Bakehouse, Yamanto Bakery, Banjo’s Bakery Yamanto and Walloon Bakery.
PERSONAL PIE PATROL
ON Saturday, I made my way to Collingwood Park Patisserie to see for myself why locals voted it one of Ipswich’s favourite spots for pies.
Of course, I couldn’t leave without sampling a few things from the cabinet, so I grabbed a bacon and cheese sausage roll, a bacon and cheese pie, plus a vanilla slice for dessert.
The bacon and cheese pie was definitely the highlight. It felt genuinely homemade and fresh, which made a big difference.
The pie was comfortably the star of the visit and lifted the overall experience for me.

BACK AT BAKED
After far too long between visits, I found myself back at Baked by Joseph and Ann on Sunday morning – and within minutes I was left wondering why I had waited so long to return.
On Brisbane St, Baked takes a simple approach – it doesn’t try to overwhelm customers with endless options. Instead, it focuses on doing a handful of things really well.
I sampled the Lemon Meringue and Brownie, two offerings that showcased exactly why this dessert mecca has developed such a loyal following.
The Lemon Meringue was a standout from the very first bite. Then came the Brownie – I’ve eaten more brownies than I could possibly count over the years, and this one instantly launched itself into my top two of all time. ROAMIN
ROWAN RATING: 10/10
(The Brownie may deserve its own separate scoring system entirely.)
