Week six of our campaign to find the best that Ipswich has to offer saw us swapping burgers for bases, turning our attention to the great and gloriously divisive world of pizza.
Going into this round, we knew there would be a bundle of pride on the line. Pizza lovers and pizza makers alike are a passionate bunch – and they do not stay quiet when dough, sauce and cheese are under debate.
In just 24 hours, our post reached more than 24,000 views from over 19,000 people, proving once again that locals are seriously invested when it comes to a quality slice.
This week also saw three pizza places from across our great city jump in to share, spruik and rally votes.
Keep that energy up – that’s exactly what this campaign is all about: engagement, recognition for business owners in every corner of the Ipswich region, and having a whole heap of fun along the way.
When the votes were counted, the crown – and a very enthusiastic imaginary throw of dough into the air – went to Mozzarella Fella Pizzeria, with readers singing its praises for flavour, consistency, service, and the kind of menu that can quietly end an argument about what to order.
Honourable mentions went out to Will’s Pizza, Amalfi’s Pizza, and the long-standing heavyweight Big Pappa’s Pizza and Ribs – all of whom have clearly built loyal followings with very different but equally committed pizza philosophies.
From the moment you walk through the door, it is clear why Mozzarella Fella Pizzeria has built such a loyal following.
The open-plan kitchen puts the craft on full display, allowing diners to watch every pizza being stretched, topped and cooked to perfection.
Behind it all is a hardworking team and an owner who takes genuine pride in every pizza box that leaves the premises. That pride extends beyond the food itself to the reputation they have earned among locals over a decade, reflected in the overwhelming support they received in our Best of Ipswich voting.
So yes, I have a new go-to pizza destination. Yes, the hype is absolutely deserved. And yes, for the first time during this Best of Ipswich campaign, I am handing out full marks.
In this edition of Roamin Rowan, Mozzarella Fella Pizzeria earns its crown.
