AFTER weeks spent tracking down flaky pastries, towering burgers, woodfired pizzas, irresistible desserts and legendary pub meals, Roamin Rowan has taken the hunt to the streets.

Week 12 of Roamin Rowan’s Hunt for the Best of Ipswich was all about uncovering the region’s best cheap eats and favourite food trucks.

The post attracted more than 16,000 Facebook views within the first 24 hours as hundreds of food lovers jumped online to back their favourites.

As nominations poured in, several outstanding contenders emerged.

Honourable mentions went to Collingwood Catch Seafood, whose fish and chips continue to earn a devoted following, and London Spuds, famous for transforming the humble potato into generous, flavour-packed meals.

However, there could only be one winner.

Taking out the title was Fractured Wood BBQ, winning over voters with its slow-cooked meats, smoky flavours and consistently outstanding food.

SMOKING ITS RIVALS

THE hype around Fractured Wood BBQ is greatly warranted as they smoked the competition.

When our readers overwhelmingly voted it Ipswich’s best cheap eats and food trucks, expectations were sky high.

One visit was all it took to understand why.

Long before you reach the truck counter, the unmistakable aroma of hardwood smoke drifts through the air, building anticipation for the authentic American-style barbecue waiting to be devoured.

Travelling to different locations across the region throughout the week – including regular appearances at the Ipswich Driving Range on Sundays – Fractured Wood BBQ has built a loyal following.

There’s no oversized menu packed with endless options, just expertly smoked meat cooked low and slow until every bite is packed with rich, smoky flavour.

The menu is refreshingly simple, offering just two burgers and two meat platters. But when every item is this good, there’s simply no need for anything more

What truly separates Fractured Wood BBQ from the crowd isn’t gimmicks or over-the-top creations – it’s the barbecue itself.

Roamin Rowan rating: 10/10

“Simple menu. Serious barbecue. One of the region’s hidden gems for lovers of low-and-slow smoked meat.”
