BRISBANE Lions AFLW coach, Craig Starcevich, said at the ’23 season launch that he needed his key players to step up and take a bigger role after they lost seven players from last season’s grand-final team.
Ipswich’s Dakota Davidson is one player answering the call and after a strong display in game one she featured again in the side’s 50 point win over Port Adelaide on the weekend.
Davidson slotted home four goals as the Lions rebounded from their narrow loss at Brookwater in round one to the Richmond Tigers.
Davidson was a major presence up front grabbing six contested marks to add to her points.
The Power had few answers for Brisbane’s relentless pressure and physicality in the midfield.
The team emerged from the Adelaide visit without any injuries and will now take on the strong Sydney Swans outfit that is also one win from two outings.
The match will be a special clash as it’s the first premiership game to be played under lights at Brighton Homes Arena with the kick-off at 5.05pm on Sunday night.
