I RECENTLY had the honour to present Dean McMahon with a certificate from the national Fragile X Association for his outstanding achievements.

Dean has a genetic disorder caused by a change to one of the genes on the X Chromosome.

Despite Dean’s disability he has been able to learn how to use an iPad and Bluetooth, to play his special record collection and to also create award winning artworks.

Dean attributes a lot of his art skills from the assistance he receives from Sonia Hall at his weekly sessions at ALARA’s Dingley Dell Gallery.

If you are interested in finding out more about any upcoming arts programs and events through the ALARA Qld, contact the Intake officer on (07) 3817 0600.
