AS we get to the end of 2022 it’s time to recap some of the exciting moments and best photos from the year at Willowbank Raceway.

With the lift of most of the Covid restrictions in 2022 it gave the track the chance to put on some huge events from the award-nominated sporting event of the year for the Gulf Western Oils Winternationals to the record-setting Kenda 660 Drag Radial Series.

Other big events included the Jamboree which achieved plenty of Sport Compact Records. In 2023 the track will be having some downtime to execute the upgrades helped by the Federal Grant to make the track as amazing as possible.

It’s not just I who is excited, even local Cr Nicole Jonic can’t wait to take her GT Falcon down the track to make sure it’s up to standard.

We are lucky to have a genuine motorsport fan in the ranks of the Ipswich City Council to not just attend the events but endorse and support them. We all know Ipswich’s motoring precinct is one of the best in the country and has been for a long time and puts the town on the map alongside the RAAF Base for the plane spotters, the Railway Museum for the Train fans, Ipswich Cup for the punters and now the new stadium at Springfield, Ipswich is really going great guns for the whole community. Over the next few weeks, we will bring you some of our favourite shots from different events and tracks in Ipswich starting with the OG – Willowbank Raceway.

With the track having upgrades in 2023 it’s hard to lock in the calendar with weather permitting so the best bet is to like the FB page to keep up to date with all things Willowbank Raceway.

The next big one is the Top Fuel Meet in January after a year off we all can’t wait.
