Man charged over armed robbery

DETECTIVES from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man following an armed robbery of a businesses at Yamanto on Sunday, November 9.

It will be alleged that about 5.10pm, the man entered a tobacco store on Warwick Road and threatened a staff member while demanding cash. 

The man allegedly stole a cash register before leaving the scene in a stolen 2009 Hyundai i30.

No one was injured during the incident.

A few hours later around 9pm police located the Hyundai parked at a hotel on Brisbane Street in Booval where it is alleged the man threatened police with a knife before he was arrested and taken into custody.

Police said the vehicle was stolen from a Keogh Street property in Ipswich earlier on November 9.

A 32-year-old Ipswich man has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling and commit, receiving tainted property, armed robbery, and serious assault police.

He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today, November 11.

Investigations remain ongoing.
