STARR is a celebrated Australian Magical Realism artist whose distinctive and emotionally resonant work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions around the world for over 25 years.
Since graduating from Queensland College of Art in 1994, Starr has built a resilient and dynamic career, marked by a long series of solo exhibitions across Australia, Europe, Asia, and the US.
Her work is currently held in permanent and private collections internationally, including a dedicated display at La Nouvelle Eve in Paris.
Many of her collectors have followed her artistic journey for more than 30 years, which is a testament to her creative consistency and enduring appeal.
With a previous presence in historical Top of Town a few years ago, Starr has made the decision to call Top of Town home again, with her new atelier located within the highly coveted old flour mill in Brisbane St.
The space resonates with the charm of the artist-owned studios found in quaint French country towns. It has been thoughtfully painted in a shade of grey reminiscent of Cézanne’s studio in Aix-en-Provence.
Starr invites you to visit and see her work in progress as she embarks on this artistic journey down a different rabbit hole.
She is planning a grand opening soon, so stay tuned for a fabulous VIP event.
Starr is also working on a surprise, new and exciting series, and collectors of her work will be pleased to hear she is including some small and affordable works along with some new large pieces, when she showcases her new works at the Revival Art & Design Gallery’s stand at the Brisbane Affordable Art Fair, May 7-10.
“I am lucky enough to work with some of the most inspiring people, whether they be dancers, models, friends, or even owners of some amazing animals that I have painted,” she said.
“It helps that I always paint from life, because inspiration can come from the slightest turn of the head, or in some cases … a horse’s mane.”
