AS the saying goes, all good things come to those who wait – and at 70 years of age, Suezan Cunningham decided it was her time to shine.
A self-taught artist who fell in love with flow art, Suezan has the ability to create some of the most spectacular “flow” works.
This has allowed her to flourish into the artist she is today, thriving by expressing the beauty, the colour, and the diversity of nature.
Suezan’s creations allow her to explore all seasons, timelines and differences, drawing the viewer into the painting with bright acrylic colours and layered textures.
Since joining Art West Community Gallery, Creative Hearts Co and ArtsConnect Ipswich Inc, Suezan has been able to learn and grow her skills and her confidence and has become an active member in all three of these groups.
She is so thankful and grateful to these amazing art groups who share knowledge and support each other through their respective arts journeys.
This is where community shines, through organisations and groups like these that, regardless of someone’s ability or skill level, all are welcome.
Art West recently celebrated 10 years with a competition theme of Celebration, which Suezan took out the award for a work titled Nature’s Celebration.
This acknowledgment among peers, supporters, collectors and more gives the artist that much-needed boost to continue to create.
But this is not the only award Suezan has received. Over the past few years, she has been an entrant in The Brookfield Show Fine Arts, The Ipswich Show Fine Arts, The Black Snake Creek Arts Festival, winning awards and also some works finding their new forever homes.
“The last three years have brought me so much joy and excitement, and I’m looking forward to seeing what new opportunities are around the corner,” Suezan said.
Suezan has works currently on show and for sale at the Art West Community Gallery in Indooroopilly as well as the Booval Fair Arts Connect Community Art Gallery in Booval.
