FORGET passports, airport queues and trying to cram three weeks of clothes into a carry-on bag because Roamin’ Rowan is heading around the world without leaving Ipswich.
Over the next three months, I’ll be loosening the belt buckle, sharpening the tastebuds and embarking on a culinary journey to find some of the best food our city has to offer.
Welcome to Round The World With Roamin’ Rowan.
The mission is simple: you nominate them, I visit them, and together we shine a spotlight on the restaurants, cafés, takeaways, pubs, producers and hidden gems that make Ipswich a seriously good place to eat.
And week one was all about finding the best of Italy in our own backyard.
From wood-fired pizzas bubbling straight from the oven and bowls of pasta worthy of a nonna’s approval, to creamy risottos, crunchy arancini, tiramisu and everything in between, the first stop on our round-the-world adventure was Ipswich’s Best Italian.
With our Italian adventure complete, the imaginary passport will get more stamps as we head through Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese and Mexican cuisine.
THIS FELLA STANDS OUT
Mozzarella Fella sets the standard for Italian in Ipswich.
The first stop on Round The World with Roamin’ Rowan has set the bar seriously high, with Mozzarella Fella taking out Week One and earning the title of Ipswich’s pick for Italian.
There is something wonderfully uncomplicated about great pizza.
Mozzarella Fella delivers it. Pizza might look simple on paper, but there is nowhere to hide when it is done badly.
Mozzarella Fella’s growing popularity in just a matter of months suggests Ipswich has discovered something special, and Roamin’ Rowan is more than happy to join the chorus.
Week One winner: Mozzarella Fella – Best Italian.
